Edson Beas Rodrigues Jr. holds a law degree (LL.B.) and a Ph.D. from the Law School of the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He is a researcher with the Instituto de Direito do Comércio Internacional e Desenvolvimento (IDCID) and has consulted for the UNDP. Edson also works as a lawyer and legal consultant on patent law, copyright law, and the unfair competition, protection of and benefit sharing schemes involving Latin American traditional cultural expressions and traditional knowledge associated to biodiversity.
